Mieke Boerema

Mieke is drawn to clay because of the story it tells as an ancient craft to a modern day slow movement art form. There’s a lot to learn from a process that takes everyone back to a slow pace in an age of speed. Her own personal story with clay is evolving. Clay is a way to express creativity. She loves experimenting with form, surface texture and glaze. More recently she has been using a carving technique into a leather hard surface causing the glaze to break. These lines form a two dimensional artwork on a three dimensional surface, and give scope to weave a story.
